These tiny botanical studs are one of a kind, with miniature hand carved leaves and tiny water cast cups. They have a beautiful organic feel, created out of recycled sterling silver.

Mini Botanical Studs // One of a Kind
♢ Solid sterling silver (100% recycled)
♢ The cup shape bloom is water cast, and the process creates a unique natural form, full of texture and perfect in its imperfectness. To create the cups I gather all my sterling silver I plan on using and melt it down to over 1700 ℉. When the silver is nice and liquid I carefully pour it into water. As the molten metal hits the surface it sizzles and freezes in place, capturing the moment when the silver is transformed. I love this because each cup is totally unique, outside of my control and I don’t know what kind of shape will emerge!
♢ The tiny cup, leaf and "dew drop" sphere are soldered onto a flat backplate to give the studs some stability.
♢ I apply a dark patina to the recessed areas of each stud, and the earrings go into my tumbler with steel shot to harden and polish the surface. The high points are polished to a bright shine, creating a beautiful contrast. This contrast is what sterling silver is famous for.
♢ The process is slow and intentional. My heart goes into every single piece I create.
♢ I love gardening -- it is my biggest source of inspiration. I am drawn into all the little details and symbolism literally blooming all around me. As a metalsmith and jewellery designer I am fascinated with capturing the moment and transforming it into sterling silver. Jewellery is lasting, it does not fade like a flower and becomes a tiny little treasure box full of memories.
♢ Gathering seeds from my garden, walks through the forest and hunting for wildflowers have all influenced this design of these earrings.
♢ Seeds and seed pods are a prominent element in my designs. The seed represents hope, perseverance, and potential. It is a symbol of encouragement!
♢ These earrings are tiny and fit perfectly on the earlobe. They measure 1 cm x .6 cm and have a height of .3 cm (not including the ear post.) They come with sturdy solid sterling silver butterfly backs.
