Star Poppy Top Studs

♢ Solid sterling silver

♢ The poppy top studs are created in Metal clay, which is made up of tiny recycled sterling silver metal particles mixed with and organic clay like binder. It can be sculpted, molded, and formed however I want. For this design I have created a little mold of the seed pod top from my garden to make sure the earrings match. I press the clay into the mold and do some hand finishing. After the designs dry 100% into my kiln they fo for a two-part firing process. The clay reaches 1500℉ for about an hour and the organic binder burns completely away leaving a solid sterling silver mini sculpture in its place. 

♢ These are stud earrings, they include solid sterling silver butterfly backing to hold the earrings in place. 

♢ My own backyard garden is my biggest source of inspiration. I am drawn into the details and symbolism that is literally blooming all around me. I have an obsession with wildflowers and all things green and growing. 

♢ Poppy flowers are rich in symbolism, in particular remembrance. The seed pods and seeds symbolise rest and sleep.

♢ The earrings have a diameter of .65 cm. They fill the earlobe nicely and are a great practical earring to wear daily.

♢ Giving as a gift? I send all my jewellery in pretty, cardboard jewellery boxes, wrapped with ribbon and tissue paper, nice enough to give as a gift. I always include artist info so the recipient knows the item is handmade from the heart.
