Inspired by a seed pod this pendant is the smallest from my Marquise Pod collection. Scattered seeds gracefully fall down the elongated shape.
This pendant is cast in solid sterling silver.
Small Marquise Pod Pendant
♢ Solid sterling silver
♢ To create this pendant I constructed a master from solid silver, forming each circle from silver wire by hand and melting the silver into little balls. When the master was perfect I had a mold made and cast it into solid sterling silver. This is a limited edition collection as I personally hand finish each pendant by sanding and polishing the surface until it shines.
♢ I have applied a dark patina to the recessed areas to create a beautiful contrast. The contrast between the shiny bright white polished surface and the dark harder to reach area is what sterling silver is famous for!
♢ I have soldered the ring closed for the necklace chain to slide through.♢ I love gardening -- it is my biggest source of inspiration. I am drawn into all the little details and symbolism literally blooming all around me. As a metalsmith and jewellery designer I am fascinated with capturing the moment and transforming it into sterling silver. Jewellery is lasting, it does not fade like a flower and becomes a tiny little treasure box full of memories!
♢ Seeds and seed pods especially fascinated me and are very prominent in many of my designs. The seed represents hope, perseverance, and potential. It is a symbol of encouragement.
♢ For this specific design I was thinking about a seed pod bursting open and the seeds cascading out of the pod.♢ This pendant is the smallest in my collection of marquee shaped seed pods. It measures 3.1 cm from top to bottom and .7 cm wide.
